... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect from 10 am this morning
to 4 am PST Saturday above 4500 feet...
A Winter Storm Warning above 4500 feet remains in effect from
10 am this morning to 4 am PST Saturday.
* Snow accumulations and elevation: a foot or more above 5000
feet... and up to a couple of inches accumulating down to around
3000 feet by late tonight... some snow may fall as low as 2000
feet late tonight but little accumulation is expected at that
level.
* Timing: snow beginning by midday today becoming heavy by late
afternoon and through the evening... before tapering late
tonight.
* Winds: southerly wind gusts 45 to 55 mph... locally stronger
through passes and over ridges.
* Impacts: hazardous driving conditions for mountain roads such
as Interstate 80... Highway 50... and Highway 70.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Winter Storm Warning means that significant snow accumulations
are expected and will be combined with strong winds and poor
visibilities that will impact travel. If you must travel... carry
extra food... water and warm clothing in your vehicle in case you
