High Surf Advisory
Issued by the National Weather Service at 8:03 PM PST on March 9, 2010
... High surf advisory now in effect until 6 am PST Wednesday...
The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard has extended a
high surf advisory for the beaches of the central coast. This
advisory is now in effect until 6 am PST Wednesday.
High surf of 10 to 13 feet will continue at the beaches
throughout tonight as a large northwest swell combines with a
wind driven swell over the coastal waters. The high surf will
also result in strong rip currents which will make swimming
dangerous for anyone entering the ocean.
This advisory may need to be extended if residual energy remains
by Wednesday morning... or if winds are forecast to strengthen
over the coastal waters.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A high surf advisory means that high surf will affect beaches in
the advisory area... producing rip currents and localized beach
erosion.
